Australian audiences are about to have their trivia skills put to the test with ABC set to premiere “Claire Hooper’s House of Games,” a new quiz show hosted by Australian comedian Claire Hooper. The series will debut on April 21 on ABC TV and ABC iview.
The first international adaptation of the U.K.’s “Richard Osman’s House of Games” – a format created by Banijay UK label Remarkable Television that regularly comes in as BBC Two’s highest rating show of the day and outperforms slot averages across all demographics – the show invites four celebrity contestants each week to compete in a mix of puzzles, riddles and brain teasers. Hooper, known for her sharp wit and comedic timing, promises plenty of laughs as she guides the contestants through the mental mayhem.
“Well, I’m officially doing my dream job,” Hooper said. “’House of Games,’ the U.K. cult favorite quiz show, is now here at the ABC. Each weeknight, before the news, I, Claire Hooper, will be testing celebrities with a series of ridiculous brain games and laughing when they struggle – in a fun way! Play along at home and work out if you’re smarter than the weekly lineups of my great mates.”
The star-studded lineup features names such as Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm, TV personality Jamie Durie, celebrity chef Julie Goodwin and comedians Rhys Nicholson, Nazeem Hussain and Geraldine Hickey. Each night, a winner will be crowned, earning the right to take home quirky “House of Games” merchandise – think a must-have salad spinner or a fun fondue set. At the end of the week, scores are tallied, and the top player claims the coveted “House of Games” trophy.
Commissioned by the ABC, “Claire Hooper’s House of Games” is produced by Endemol Shine Australia. The format, originally created by Remarkable Entertainment, is represented by Banijay Entertainment globally.
