AFRAA and the AviAssist Foundation enhance collaboration on Aviation Safety in Africa – AFRAA – African Airlines Association   Africa Flying

The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and the AviAssist Foundation (AviAssist) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on enhancement of African aviation safety at the sidelines of the World Aviation Festival in Amsterdam on 09 October 2024. The MoU was signed by Mr. Abderahmane Berthé – AFRAA Secretary General and Mr. Christopher McGregor – ATR Flight Safety Officer and Board Chairman of AviAssist Foundation.

Under the framework of collaboration, AFRAA and AviAssist will cooperate closely to enhance aviation safety in the African continent in the following areas:

1. Promotion of aviation safety throughout Africa;2. Promotion of safety data collection/information sharing;3. Creation of continuous professional development opportunities for aviation professionals in Africa;4. Creation of opportunities for aviation safety skills building with future aviators and Next Generation aviation professionals5. Exchange and provision of information and data on scientific and technical activities, developments, best practices and results for the purpose of the training;6. Exchange of safety data for data-driven safety management; to be utilized solely for enhancing safety organization of seminars and other meetings to discuss and exchange information on agreed topics and to identify cooperative actions;7. Common execution of joint studies or projects including their joint design, construction and operation;8. Fostering of mutual and joint participation to other international initiatives and networks of cooperation;9. Other specific forms of cooperation and mutually agreed in writing.

The AFRAA and AviAssist will hold regular meetings to review the implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding and to explore areas for future collaboration.
