Air Canada launches new Montreal to Porto seasonal flights


Air Canada has launched its latest route linking Montréal with Porto on the western coast of Portugal. The first flight on June 4, 2025, marked the start of a new three-times-weekly seasonal service which will run until the end of the northern summer peak in August 2025.

The first flight, with flight number AC928, departed Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) at 22:24 local time and arrived in Porto (OPO) the following morning at 09:19, having taken just five hours and 55 minutes to cover the 3,199-mile (5,118km) route. The first flight was operated by the carrier’s Airbus A330-300 with registration C-GXZD, which operates in a special Start Alliance livery.

Porto is Air Canada’s second destination in Portugal, complementing its existing flights from Montréal and Toronto to Lisbon. All Porto flights will be operated by Air Canada’s 20-strong fleet of Airbus 330-300s, which has an average age of 18.5 years. Each aircraft is configured to accommodate 297 passengers in a three-class configuration – 32 in business class, 24 in premium economy, and 241 in economy.

All flights are timed to leave Montréal at 21:50 local time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as AC928, arriving in Porto at 09:20 the following day. The return flights (AC929) leave Porto at 11:20 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, landing back in Montréal at 13:45. The last eastbound flight will operate on August 28, 2025, while the last westbound flight will leave Porto on  August 26, 2025.

Other new European routes being launched by Air Canada during summer 2025  include the opening of a new Naples route in May. Air Canada launched its inaugural flight from Montréal to Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP) on May 20, marking its fourth regular passenger service to Italy. The seasonal eight-hour flight, which is serviced by the airline’s Boeing B787 Dreamliner fleet, will run until October 25, 2025.

Additionally, the airline has also resumed services on its long-standing Ottawa to London-Heathrow (LHR) route in April 2025 and in the coming days with also be launching a new Toronto to Prague route and, at the end of June 2025, a service between Montréal to Edinburgh in Scotland.
