Air India has signed codeshare partnerships with Icelandair and Air Mauritius against the backdrop of the 81st International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in New Delhi.
Under the agreement with Icelandair, customers of both airlines will gain access to 15 routes across India and Europe.
Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, and Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair, praised the new agreement between the two airlines which they say will offer passengers “greater flexibility and choice” while travelling.
Passengers will also receive “unified baggage allowances, and enhanced connectivity through major European hub airports”, according to a press release.
Air India customers will gain access to Icelandair-operated flights to Reykjavik Airport (KEF) via Air India’s European gateways.

Air India will also add its ‘AI’ designator code on Icelandair-operated flights between Reykjavik and London-Heathrow (LHR), London-Gatwick (LGW), Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich.
Icelandair customers will be able to use Air India-operated flights to key Indian cities. Icelandair will also add its ‘FI’ designator code on Air India-operated flights between Delhi and Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Heathrow and between Mumbai and Frankfurt and Heathrow.
“By combining our strengths, we are creating a seamless bridge between India’s vibrant destinations and Iceland’s extraordinary landscapes. This partnership underscores Air India’s ambition to expand our global reach while offering Icelandair’s customers seamless access to India’s diverse destinations,” said Wilson.
Bogason described the partnership as a “significant milestone” that will open “exciting new travel opportunities”.
“It will connect Iceland to Air India’s extensive network, allowing us to introduce what Iceland has to offer to their customers. We have and will continue to expand our network of partner airlines, focusing on working with airlines like Air India that offer great service and connectivity,” he added.
Expanded codeshare partnership with Air Mauritius
Air India and Air Mauritius extended their codeshare partnership at IATA AGM to further improve connectivity across the Indian Subcontinent and the African region.
Under the agreement 17 routes across India, Mauritius, Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar will be included in the extended partnership.
Air India will place its ‘AI’ designator code on Air Mauritius flights to and from Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, and Antananarivo in Madagascar.
As part of the enhanced codeshare, Air Mauritius will place its ‘MK’ designator code on Air India flights between Mauritius and Mumbai.
Air India already codeshares on Air Mauritius flights between Mauritius and Mumbai, Delhi, and Réunion while Air Mauritius already has codeshares on Air India flights between Mumbai and Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Goa, Delhi and Bengaluru, Chennai.

Travellers from India to Mauritius will not only experience the warmth of our multi-cultural society and the richness of our diverse local cuisine, but also enjoy the convenience of connecting to Reunion, South Africa, and Madagascar beyond with Air Mauritius,” said Kishore Beegoo, Chairman of Air Mauritius.
The Air India CEO added: “India is one of the largest tourism source markets for destinations in Southern Africa, including Mauritius and South Africa, as well as a strong trade partner to the region. This expanded codeshare partnership with Air Mauritius is another step toward widening our extended global network, which enables our customers to easily access these destinations.”
The additional codeshare flights are available for booking from July 1, 2025.
