Latvian airline airBaltic and India’s national airline Air India have announced a new partnership with the signing of a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) to boost travel options between the Baltics and India.
The agreement was signed during the 81st International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in New Delhi.
In a statement issued by airBaltic on June 3, 2025, the airline said the partnership will enable both airlines to “sell connecting tickets that include flights operated by each other, allowing for seamless travel between Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and India.”
“The cooperation will bring mutual benefits to both airlines and our passengers,” said Pauls Cālītis, Interim CEO and COO of airBaltic. “We are excited about this development and look forward to our partnership, especially as we observe a steady increase in passenger traffic between the Baltics and India.”
The airline said the agreement expands the route networks of both carriers and enhances travel convenience for passengers by offering more flexible and connected itineraries between these regions.
“Our new partnership with airBaltic strengthens our extended worldwide network and provides easy access to our guests to and from the Baltics, an emerging tourism region for Indians, consisting of nations with which India’s trade ties continue to grow,” Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, added.
On June 2, 2025, Air India has formed codeshare agreements with Icelandair and Air Mauritius. Through the deal with Icelandair, passengers from both airlines will have access to 15 routes between India and Europe, while the partnership with Air Mauritius includes 17 routes across India, Mauritius, La Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar.
