Airbus announces technology leadership changes


Airbus announced on a Linkedin post published on May 23, 2025, some changes in its technology leadership. 

Sabine Klauke, who until now was Chief Technology Officer & EVP Engineering Commercial Aircraft Business, will be heading Digital Design Manufacturing and Services (DDMS) “Next Gen”, a newly created cross-division business area. In her new role, Klauke will report to Executive Vice-President Digital Catherine Jestin. 

The role of Head of Technology and Vice-President Engineering at the Commercial Aircraft business will be taken over by Rémi Maillard, who until now was heading Airbus in India and South Asia.  

This position carries significant weight within the European aircraft manufacturer, as it involves coordinating all research and technology development activities across the group. Maillard will report directly to Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft. 

Maillard is an Airbus veteran who has risen through the ranks. Before heading the group’s business in India and South Asia, he spent over 10 years at Airbus Helicopters, where he took on several senior engineering roles which included work in programs such as the Tiger attack helicopter and the H175 model.  

These leadership changes will become effective on July 1, 2025.
