Airports around the galaxy celebrate May the 4th

On May 4, 2025, airports around the world celebrated Star Wars Day with full costumes, props, and parades.

Observed annually on the 4th of May, Star Wars Day is an informal occasion to honor the iconic space media franchise created by George Lucas.

The date was chosen for its play on the phrase, “May the Force be with you,” which is frequently spoken by Obi-Wan Kenobi throughout his journey as a Jedi.

Star Wars is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, and various industries, communities, and groups commemorate May 4th.

This year, numerous airports joined in the celebration, much to the delight of passengers.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)

Passengers who were traveling through DFW Airport on May 4, 2025, would have seen Stormtroopers casually line up for security, getting personal belongings from X-Ray machines.

They also might have overheard C-3PO’s voice on the speakers calling the attention of “passengers going to Tatooine”, announcing that flights are delayed due to unforeseen meteor showers.

Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)

Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) in Poland transformed into an intergalactic space as the airport brought Star Wars to life with huge exhibits made out of Lego.

Apart from the display, various areas in the airport were also decorated in a Star Wars backdrop along with characters, where passengers can interact and also take photographs.

“Together we have created an event the aviation world has never seen before,” the airport company said.

Denver International Airport (DEN)

According to Denver International Airport, it celebrates Star Wars Day annually, and this year, there was no shortage of force as the airport held a majestic parade of characters.

Special Star Wars characters were also found throughout the airport, interacting with passengers. Even service dogs at the airport were dressed in theme.

Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

While it did not celebrate May the 4th in the traditional sense of Star Wars characters, Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris had a very clever way to commemorate the day.

Using advanced CGI, the airport fascinated social media viewers with a realistic view of a Star Wars starship, the iconic Millennium Falcon, on the airport tarmac.

If you’re disappointed that you were not able to catch this starship in real life, here’s a pro tip: All year round, you can book a Star Wars-themed room at the Ibis Charles de Gaulle hotel, located just across the airport’s Terminal 3.
