Alaska Airlines unveils new Disney-themed livery

Alaska Airlines has unveiled what must be a contender for one of the most elaborate aircraft liveries in recent times. In collaboration with the Disneyland Resort located in California, the carrier unveiled the vibrant new livery at its base at Portland International Airport (PDX) on April 27, 2025, before the aircraft bearing it set off on its first revenue passenger service to Santa Ana, California.

According to an airline statement, the carrier is “inviting guests to embrace adventure and dream big” with its newest Disney-themed aircraft, ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Flyer.’

Inspired by the ‘The Princess and the Frog’ movie made by Walt Disney Animation Studios, the design “captures Princess Tiana’s adventurous spirit. It also celebrates the latest chapter in the princess and entrepreneur’s story of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the exhilarating water-based attraction and music-filled journey at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California,” says the airline.

The 17-year-old Boeing 737-800 registered N596AS features a stunning exterior showcasing Princess Tiana, which pays homage to the character’s inspiring story as well as the new immersive ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ experience at Disneyland.

According to the company, the hugely elaborate design took artists more than 2,000 hours to paint, with intricate touches showing the movie’s Louis the Alligator character splashing among water lilies on the bayou, plus a trail of fireflies flowing from the plane’s nose to tail. Other characters from the movie, including ‘Mama Odie’ and ‘Prince Naveen’, are pictured on the aircraft’s winglets.

The Disney theme continues inside the cabin, too, with the airline offering ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ snack packs for purchase beginning during the summer of 2025. The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is a premier destination for many Alaska Airlines passengers visiting Southern California.

“Every journey should be as magical as the destination, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Flyer brings that wonder to the skies in a way that perfectly complements our commitment to creating remarkable journeys,” said Eric Edge, Vice President of Brand and Marketing at Alaska Airlines. “This aircraft captures Princess Tiana’s love for exploration and adventure, inspiring our guests to embrace new possibilities and create memories along the way.”

The newly unveiled design marks Alaska Airlines’ ninth Disneyland Resort-themed aircraft, along with its first to feature one of the famous Disney Princesses. Passengers of Alaska Airlines will be able to fly aboard the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Flyer aircraft throughout Alaska’s route network for the next several years, adds the company.

The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Flyer has also arrived back in service just in time for the Disneyland Resort’s 70th celebrations, which begin on May 16, 2025, and run through until the summer of 2026.

Other Disney liveries

The newest livery joins a lineup of Alaska’s beloved Disneyland Resort-themed liveries that have appeared over the years.

These include ‘Mickey’s Toontown Express,’ which features images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse along with much-loved Disney characters Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and  Duck at Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland Park. The others include the space-black ‘Star Wars Transport to the Disneyland Resort’ livery that celebrates Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park, and the ‘Friendship and Beyond at Disneyland Resort’ livery, which portrays versions of ‘Toy Story’ characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie in Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park.
