Alex Cooper, the creator and host of the wildly popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast, will produce a new dating series for Hulu with the working title “Overboard for Love.”
The unscripted show will put “sexy singles” aboard a luxury yacht, where they’ll be ready to “mix and mingle … and find love.”
“But there’s a twist,” according to the logline: “Gaining access to the yacht’s extravagant amenities won’t be so simple. As the journey unfolds, romance ignites; alliances form; and hearts are shattered. In the end, only one couple will reign supreme. Who will rise to the top, and who will be left stranded?”
Cooper executive produces “Overboard for Love” through her Unwell Productions banner, alongside Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre. The series is also produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions (“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”) in association with 3BMG, and Walt Disney Television Alternative. Russell Jay-Staglik and Jason Ehrlich are EPs via Jeff Jenkins Productions, and Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans executive produce for 3BMG.
“I couldn’t be more excited that Unwell Productions’ first unscripted series, ‘Overboard for Love,’ is coming to life with our amazing partner, Hulu,” Cooper said in a statement. “This project marks a major milestone for us, perfectly reflecting our vision of creating bold, unfiltered content that pushes boundaries. We’ve designed a truly unique dating show, and I can’t wait for viewers to see what Unwell is capable of.”
Rob Mills, executive vice president of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, added: “I’m incredibly excited to be collaborating with Alex and the team at Unwell Productions on their first television project. Alex is a trailblazer who is undoubtedly shaping the future of entertainment, and this is only the beginning of an exciting journey as we welcome her to the family.”
