Amanda Seyfried is back in a leading television role following “The Crowded Room” and her Emmy award-winning turn in “The Dropout.”
Based on the New York Times bestseller by Liz Moore published in 2020, the limited series “Long Bright River” follows Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer patrolling an area of Philadelphia that was particularly hit by the opioid crisis. After three girls are found dead, Mickey is forced to grapple with her past as she searches for answers.
The tense trailer shows Mickey’s journey as she is questioned for her interest in the case and her personal connection. “You seem to take it personally and you won’t tell me why,” Lafferty (Dash Mihok) asks her in a store.
Alongside Seyfried, the cast includes John Doman (“The Wire”), Nicholas Pinnock (“For Life”), Ashleigh Cummings (“Hounds of Love”), Callum Vinson (“Chucky”) with guest stars Mihok (“Romeo + Juliet”), Britne Oldford (“Dead Ringers”) and Matthew Del Negro (“Wind River”). Hagar Ben-Asher (“Dead Women Walking”) directs the first and fifth episodes.
“Long Bright River” is produced by Sony Pictures Television and UCP. Nikki Toscano (“The Offer”), Moore and Seyfried executive produce. Neal H. Moritz (“Fast & Furious”), Pavun Shetty (“Gen V”) and Amanda Lewis (“Fast X”) executive produce for Original Film while Amy Pascal (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”) and Russell Rothberg (“The Offer”) executive produce for Pascal Pictures.
All eight episodes of the mystery limited series will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock starting March 13.
