Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming AMC series “The Talamasca,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The Talamasca is a secretive group featured in a number of Rice’s novels. The official logline for the show states that it will “focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.”
Richardson-Sellers joins previously announced cast members Nicholas Denton, William Fichtner, and Elizabeth McGovern. She will play Olive, who is described as “a beguiling and ambitious agent of the Talamasca, assigned to be Guy Anatole’s (Denton) American handler. She is deft with information and a master of disguises in the old tradition of spy craft.”
Richardson-Sellers is known for her roles in shows like “The Originals” and “Legends of Tomorrow” at The CW, as well as the six-part cyber thriller “The Undeclared War” alongside Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance. She also recently wrapped production on Season 2 of the Hulu series “Nine Perfect Strangers.” In film, she was in “Star War: The Force Awakens” and two installments of “The Kissing Booth” franchise at Netflix.
She is repped by TFC Management, Gersh, Denton Brierley, and Schreck Rose.
“The Talamasca” is the third series in AMC’s so-called Anne Rice Immortal Universe, along with “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches.” The show was first reported to be in development at AMC in 2023, with the basic cabler formally greenlighting the show in June 2024. AMC has ordered six episodes, with the show currently in production in Manchester, England. It is slated to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on “The Talamasca,” with Hancock also set to direct. Mark Johnson also executive produces under his overall deal with AMC Studios, through which he oversees all the shows in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe.
