Avianca reaches agreement with BOC Aviation for A320neos

Colombia’s largest airline, Avianca, has reached an agreement with lessor BOC Aviation to acquire nine Airbus A320neo aircraft.

The Singapore-based lessor confirmed on June 5, 2026, that it had entered a contract with Airbus for nine new aircraft with deliveries set to commence in 2027.

Avianca, which is part of ABRA Group, has signed up for long-term leases as it looks to bolster its existing fleet of A320neos.

According to ch-aviation, Avianca is already awaiting delivery of 78 Airbus A320 neo jets from previous agreements.

In March 2022, Avianca agreed to purchase 88 A320neo aircraft from Airbus with options for 50 more. Deliveries were scheduled to begin in 2025 and conclude in 2031.

“We are pleased to reaffirm our strategic relationship with BOC Aviation through this agreement. This transaction supports our fleet renewal strategy and our commitment to operating modern, fuel-efficient aircraft” said Francisco Raddatz, Chief Procurement Officer, ABRA Group.

In March 2025, BOC Aviation placed a firm order with Airbus for an additional 70 A320neo family aircraft.

“We are pleased to be working again with Avianca as it expands its network in the rapidly growing Latin American markets,” said Steven Townend, CEO, BOC Aviation. “These deliveries position us well for incremental future growth as we continue to expand our industry-leading latest generation fleet.”

On May 29, 2025, BOC Aviation also signed an agreement with Airbus to purchase nine A320neo family aircraft to place with Gulf Air.
