Blondshell, the alt-pop project of Sabrina Teitelbaum, has announced a sophomore album, If You Asked for a Picture. The follow-up to 2023’s Blondshell arrives May 2 via Partisan. She’s shared the new single “T&A” with a music video, directed by Hannah Bon, in which three men are juxtaposed with their respective rescue dogs to highlight their similarities. Check it out below.
“It feels impossible to think of anything other than the fires in Los Angeles right now,” said Blondshell. “The city I’ve lived in for ten years is burning and the scale of the loss is incomprehensible. In a way it feels dumb to talk about music, but I also think the whole point of art is for it to exist in the context of pain as a small emotional respite… even if just for one moment. Please stay safe. Thank you for letting me share this with you. Twelve songs about searching for love, family, and friendship in many right and wrong places.” She also shared links to Mutual Aid LA, a dog fostering signup, and a fundraiser for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
If You Asked for a Picture was produced by Yves Rothman and borrows its title from Mary Oliver’s 1986 poem “Dogfish.” Technically, “T&A” is the second song Blondshell has released from the album, following last year’s “What’s Fair.” She also teamed up with Bully for the track “Docket,” in 2024, but that collaboration doesn’t appear on the new album.
