Canadian manufacturer Bombardier has announced the delivery of its 1,000th super-mid-size aircraft, a Challenger 3500 business jet, to JM Family Enterprises, an automotive company.
The delivery took place during a special ceremony at Bombardier’s Challenger delivery center in Montréal, the company declared on February 27, 2025. More than 700 Bombardier employees and invitees attended the ceremony.
“Reaching the delivery of our 1,000th super-midsize aircraft marks a defining moment for Bombardier,” Éric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier, said during the ceremony. “Challenger super-midsize aircraft have been a game changer in the industry as they defined a new business jet segment, and we are excited to continue building on this legacy.”
Bombardier said that its super-midsize aircraft “has become one of the most sought-after aircraft in its category”. The Challenger 3500 is the modernized version of the best-selling Challenger 350.
According to Bombardier, the aircraft features a voice-controlled cabin and integrates several key features from Bombardier’s ultra-long-range Global 7500 aircraft, such as the Nuage seat. The seat features a patented tilt link system, which provides a neutral body posture for comfort and improved circulation during flights.
The Challenger 3500 holds an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a distinction shared by all of Bombardier’s in-production aircraft. This makes Bombardier the only business jet manufacturer to publish EPDs for its models. Additionally, all operational flights are powered by Sustainable Aviation Fuel through the Book-and-Claim system.
Bombardier said that, for the past 20 years, their aircraft have been the best-selling jets in their class, and the Challenger 3500 jet is continuing the winning streak, leading its segment in 2024 as the most delivered jet.
