After Phoenix Suns all-star Devin Booker debuted the signature sneakers on the court for 30th anniversary of “Forrest Gump” last year, Nike is now releasing the Cortez Book 1s online on Friday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.
Priced at $140 at Nike.com, the durable Nike Cortez Book 1 sneakers take their inspiration from the hit 1994 film “Forrest Gump” — which stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Sally Field, Mykelti Williamson and others.
The sneakers are designed with pronounced lines and a strong color scheme with responsive traction and cushioning support for additional bounce when playing basketball or just for casual looks — especially if you’re sitting on a park bench waiting for a bus.
Made from a blend of canvas and premium leather for shape, the sneakers feature Nike’s Air Zoom forefoot for speed, absorption and cushion with a zig-zagging pattern at their soles for grippiness and traction on the court.
And since they pay homage to Forrest Gump, Nike Cortez Book 1 sneakers have a classic white and varsity red colorway with just a hint of varsity blue at the soles, while the left shoe has Devin Booker’s nickname “Book” printed on the tongue.
Although there are multiple colorways available, these Nike Cortez sneakers look amazing in iconic Forrest Gump colors from the movie.
