Britney Betrays Danielle, Faithfuls Win Season 3

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains major spoilers from the Season 3 finale of “The Traitors,” now streaming on Peacock.

The final five battled for the prize on Thursday’s finale of “The Traitors” Season 3: Recruited Traitor Britney Haynes, Dolores Catania, Dylan Efron, Gabby Windey and Ivar Mountbatten — after they banished original Traitor Danielle Reyes.

The episode opened right where the last one left off — Britney was forced to decide Danielle’s fate at the roundtable after Danielle and Ivar tied in votes at the penultimate banishment ceremony. Dylan and Gabby voted to banish Danielle, but Dolores voted for Ivar. The final vote came down to Britney, who had grown close to her “Big Brother” co-star Danielle during the competition and after Danielle had recruited her as a Traitor after turning on her fellow Traitor Carolyn Wiger.

In a shocking reveal, Britney voted to banish Danielle, turning on her Traitor teammate in a backstabbing twist that mirrored their time together on “Big Brother.” Danielle was in awe, and on her way out she thanked and complimented everyone … except her fellow Traitor, simply saying, “Britney, wow.”

“I said I was going to come in this game and play for my family by any means necessary, and of course, I’m definitely a Traitor,” Danielle said in her exit speech. In her interview afterward, she admitted, “I feel stupid because I didn’t think Britney would be the nail in my coffin… I should have killed her!”

Britney was then revealed to be the Seer, the contestant with the power to learn the true identity of one person in the house. She chose Gabby, and was honest with the group the following morning that Gabby was a Faithful.

Dylan immediately grew suspicious of Britney, since Danielle was so angry at her when she was banished. Going into the final roundtable, Britney could tell he was gunning for her, so she came ready to fight and attempted to turn the suspicion on him. Things became very heated between the pair but ultimately, Britney was voted out by the group. She couldn’t reveal her identity as she left, and the final four headed to the Fire of Truth — but they didn’t know for sure if they were all Faithfuls.

Gabby, Dylan, Dolores and Ivar had options. If they unanimously chose to end the game, believing all four were Faithfuls, they would split $204,300. But if any Traitors were among them, the Traitor would take it all. If one player voted to continue the game and banish another person, believing a Traitor remained, the group had to do so. (Of course, as we saw in the Season 2 finale, two Faithfuls could also team up to get more money and vote out someone else, i.e. what CT Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella did to MJ Javid.)

In a bit of a non-dramatic ending, all four players chose to end the game, meaning they won and split the prize money equally. Oddly enough, in the season with the most gamers from “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and beyond, none of them were able to make it to the end and the most Faithfuls in the U.S. show’s history were victorious.
