April 3, 2025 – Washington, DC — Dave Cavossa, President of the Commercial Space Federation (CSF), will join U.S. Space Force Chief, General Chance Saltzman, and other experts today to testify before the U.S. China Economic and Security Review Commission at a hearing on China’s space ambitions.
From Mr. Cavossa’s testimony: “The United States commercial space industry has the innovations and the talent to maintain American leadership in space and dominance in technology, we just need a willing partnership with the government to realize our full potential.”
Mr. Cavossa will make several recommendations to policymakers to unleash U.S. innovation, including:
U.S. Space Leadership Should be a National Priority
The U.S. Government should rely to the maximum extent possible on the domestic commercial space industry.
NASA and Congress should commit sufficient funding for civil space exploration and space science.
NASA should aggressively move out on awarding and funding commercial LEO space stations.
The Administration and Congress should make robust investments in spaceport infrastructure and resiliency across the U.S.
The Department of Transportation and Department of Commerce should reduce and streamline regulatory oversight of space activities.
The Department of Commerce should begin to implement authorization and supervision of novel space activities not currently overseen by an existing regulatory regime.
The Administration should continue to lead international discussions about norms in space, prioritizing sustainability.
