The Roots are bringing back the annual Roots Picnic to Philadelphia, PA with a lineup that includes D’Angelo, Lenny Kravitz, Meek Mill, GloRilla, Latto and more.
The event, scheduled to take place at Philly’s The Mann in Fairmount Park on May 31 and June 1, will see D’Angelo making his grand return to the stage alongside the Roots. The last time the R&B singer publicly performed was during the Netflix is a Joke Comedy Festival at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl in 2022.
Additional performers for the Roots Picnic 2025 include Tems, Jeezy, Kaytranada, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Musiq Soulchild, Kur, Elmiene, Backyard Band featuring Cee Lo Green, Jagged Edge, CeCe Peniston, Crystal Waters, Lay Banks and Laila! More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Several musicians will celebrate milestones for their respective albums at the festival. Jeezy will honor the 20th anniversary of “Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101,” while Musiq Soulchild will commemorate the 25th anniversary of his debut album, “Aijuswanaseing.” The Roots will also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of “Do You Want More?!!!”
Beyond main stage performances, Roots Picnic will feature day parties including Trap Karaoke, Chill Vibes featuring DJ Aktive, Doo-Wop..That R&B Party, and Dear Summer Festival. Rich Medina, Funk Flex and Diamond Kuts are expected to appear. J. Period will also host his Live Mixtape with Black Thought, Pusha T and 2 Chainz.
Last year’s event featured performances from André 3000, Jill Scott, Babyface, Shaboozey, Gunna and more. It also featured a tribute to New Orleans from Lil Wayne alongside PJ Morton, the Roots, Trombone Shorty and Lloyd.
Presale tickets for Roots Picnic 2025 will go on sale on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. ET, while general sale begins Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. ET.
