Discover Airlines launches long-haul routes from Munich

Discover Airlines, the subsidiary of Lufthansa Group focused on the leisure market, is launching its first long-haul flights from Munich Airport (MUC).

Orlando, Florida (MCO), the Namibian capital Windhoek (WDH) and Calgary (YYC), gateway to the Canadian Rockies will be the initial long-haul destinations served by Discover Airlines from the Bavarian airport.

The inaugural service to Orlando will take off on March 5, 2025, with the Windhoek and Calgary services to follow on April 1 and 12, 2025, respectively. All the new destinations will be served thrice weekly.

After the summer season, the Calgary service will be replaced by a new route to Punta Cana (PUJ), a popular beach resort destination in the Dominican Republic. The other two routes will be operated year-round.

In order to operate the new long-haul routes, Discover Airlines is basing two of its Airbus A330 aircraft at Munich Airport. These aircraft will join six A320 aircraft which are already based in Munich.

Since its launch in September 2023, Discover Airlines has expanded its scheduled route network to cover 32 leisure destinations across Europe, mostly around the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.

Discover Airlines is a rebranding of Eurowings Discover, which, between 2021 and 2023, operated in a similar role for the Lufthansa Group, serving leisure markets from Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich.
