Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, Qatar officially opened brand new Concourses D and E, increasing its capacity to over 65 million passengers annually.
The unveiling of the concourses completes the airport’s seven-year expansion and development project. One of the expansion’s milestones took place in 2022, when the airport unveiled The ORCHARD, a 6,000 square meter indoor tropical garden.

According to Doha Airport, the new concourses integrate seamlessly into the existing terminal, which now spans 842,000 square meters – a 14% increase – while the addition of 17 new aircraft contact gates increases the total to 62, nearly 40% more from 2024.
The new concourses will also improve passenger experience with new self-boarding systems, and smart technology that enables faster document verification. Overall, the new technology is expected to reduce wait times and provide a smoother transition from terminal to aircraft.
The new concourses were designed to meet GSAS 4-Star Design & Build Certification and aiming for LEED Gold Certification, Doha Airport said.
The development incorporates energy-efficient systems, innovative water management solutions, and optimised thermal comfort strategies, reinforcing the airport’s alignment with global sustainability objectives.
