When Colombian singer-songwriter Ela Taubert won best new artist at the Latin Grammys last year, the triumphant moment became a fitting prelude to her upcoming debut album, “Preguntas A Las 11:11.” With features from pop producer Max Martin, Joe Jonas and the pop band Morat, the 16-song LP is out on May 9 via Universal Music Latino.
“This is an album that reflects the essence of overthinking, of making wishes at 11:11, and serves as a midnight diary — documenting the moments, emotions, and growth I’ve experienced between the ages of 15 and 25,” Taubert tells Variety. “Since I first began writing songs, the most beautiful part — besides being able to vent and share my stories with the world — has been witnessing how others connect with the music, how they find pieces of their own stories in every lyric and melody. More than anything, my hope is that this album becomes a safe space for listeners and fans, a companion through their own journey, as we all grow together.”
The tracklist features previously released titles, including “¿Cómo Pasó?” with Jonas, following their live debut of the track at the 2024 Latin Grammys. Since its official release in November, the single has achieved RIAA Platinum Certification, and within two months of its release and television debut, the song has accumulated over 40 million streams.
“That song completely changed my life,” says Taubert. “It brought so many blessings, unforgettable experiences, and memories that will stay with us forever. Getting to release different versions with artists I grew up listening to, like Joe Jonas, and then closing that chapter with the beautiful moment of performing it live with Morat — it felt like the perfect way to wrap up the album. It’s our way of saying that dreams do come true.”
