Ethiopian Airlines is set to roll out the red carpet for VIPs, investors, and the African business network following the arrival of its new Boeing 737-800 Business Jet (BBJ2).
The flag carrier announced on March 18, 2025, that its latest customer offering is designed to offer passengers a “premium charter experience with world-class service”.
“The introduction of this Business Jet aircraft underscores the airline’s dedication to providing flexible, high-end travel solutions tailored to the needs of corporate leaders, diplomats, and private travelers,” Ethiopian Airlines said.
The latest fleet addition was purchased from Canada-based XINATIS Consulting which specializes in aircraft sales and leasing to commercial airlines and business jet operators.
The aviation firm confirmed that the Boeing 737-800 has been configured with a VIP executive interior and ultra long-range fuel tanks.
“Ethiopian Airlines had been evaluating the possibility of a VIP aircraft for some time before approaching XINATIS to lend our expertise. Our team presented our experience from different facets of the aviation industry to bring together the first transaction of this kind in Africa,” said Sameer Adam, President and CEO of XINATIS.
Ethiopian’s new BBJ2 is configured with 19 seats for commercial operation and 32 for private to ensure an “exclusive and intimate atmosphere, accommodating a select number of passengers”.

Passengers traveling on the new aircraft will benefit from “state-of-the-art” in-flight amenities, including an advanced entertainment system displaying on up to 42” monitors, Wi-Fi connectivity, and premium onboard dining tailored to their preferences.
