Nicky Campbell may be fashion-policing Hollywood’s A-list, but that hasn’t kept them from being fans of his TikTok takedowns.
Campbell tells me that Sarah Paulson and Kris Jenner are just a few of the boldfaced names who have slipped into his DMs. He says Gwyneth Paltrow sent him a message that reads, “I love you so much. You are a treasure.”
“I was like, ‘OK, wow, period,’” Campbell told me Wednesday at Vanity Fair and Instagram’s Vanities party at Bar Mamont in West Hollywood.
He says he’s never received any complaints from celebs. “They might be saying it privately, but they have not said it to me,” Campbell said.
However, he wouldn’t mind a celebrity feud. “I want it to be juicy,” Campbell said. “I’ve had some words about Blake Lively’s style, and if she comes back, she comes back. And that’s fair. No one has to like what I say. That’s OK. I’m OK to get critiqued. I’m OK to have some clapback. It’s all in fun. It’s never about the person, just about the fashion.”
Campbell was a red carpet correspondent for Netflix at the SAG Awards when he took himself to task on TikTok for his very wrinkled sleeves. “I look really snatched, but I will say the sleeves – the sleeves. I need the steamer,” he said on the social media platform. “I can’t believe this is happening.”
He told me he now has “a lot more empathy” for celebs following his wrinkled snafu: “The roaster is getting roasted…It’s karma’s coming back to get me.”
He started his TikTok fashion commentary on a whim. “I literally was like very hungover in bed one day and just like was running my mouth as I do privately, but I decided to do it publicly, and now here we are,” Campbell said. “This is very wild and mind blowing.”
