Girls in Aviation Day at KSEF inspires future aviators — General Aviation News

The sky was the limit at the 2025 Girls in Aviation Day at Sebring Regional Airport (KSEF) in Florida, where young aviation enthusiasts got an up-close look at the world of flight.

The February event brought together students from Boys & Girls Club of Highlands County, Divine Academy, and other local groups for a day of education, hands-on activities, and aviation inspiration, according to organizers.

New to this year’s lineup was Rexair Flight Academy, with flight students, Kate and Rebecca, captivating the girls’ attention with insights into their flight training.

The 99s hosted learning activities, while EAA Chapter 1240 attracted a crowd to its pancake breakfast.

One of the most popular stations was the “Build an Airplane” activity, led by Lisa Watkins. Students assembled balsa wood airplanes and designed their own colorful and extravagant paint schemes, letting their creativity take flight.

Another highlight of the day was an impromptu drill demonstration by the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Squadron. After showcasing their precise marching formations, the cadets invited Boys & Girls club members to join in, turning a simple drill into an unforgettable learning experience, organizers noted.

Sebring Flight Academy provided flights in its RedBird flight simulator supervised by Brant Howell, while a special crowd favorite was the AirCam airplane on display, courtesy of Lockwood Aviation.

Sponsorship and support from Women in Aviation International plus Sebring Airport Authority and the entire FBO team were instrumental in making the event a success, organizers noted. Led by Jami Olive, the FBO team handled everything from directing aircraft to coordinating static displays, which included a fire truck and ambulance.
