Gulf Air to lease 9 new A320neo aircraft from BOC Aviation

Aircraft operating leasing company BOC Aviation has signed an agreement with Airbus to purchase nine A320neo family aircraft and secured long-term leases for the aircraft with Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain.

The agreement was approved by BOC Aviation’s board of directors on May 29, 2025, and was announced in a statement by the company on the same day.

“We are pleased to be able to enhance our fleet with these new aircraft, which will enable us to provide an even better travel experience for our passengers,” Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air added. “This partnership with BOC Aviation underscores our commitment to modernising our operations and expanding our network.”

The order includes six Airbus A320neo aircraft and three Airbus A321neo aircraft, all of which will be equipped with CFM LEAP-1A engines. Deliveries for these aircraft are planned between 2025 and 2027.

“This transaction provides Gulf Air with technologically advanced aircraft that will be delivered over a period of three years to support its fleet growth,” said Steven Townend, CEO and Managing Director of BOC Aviation.

The board stated that “the transaction is entered into in the company’s usual course of business and on normal commercial terms”, which are considered “fair and reasonable”.

BOC Aviation has announced a total of 829 aircraft and engines in its portfolio as of March 31, 2025.
