Gwyneth Paltrow has firmly quashed any rumors of a “beef” with Meghan Markle.
The Duchess of Sussex is rolling out a lifestyle brand, drawing instant comparisons to Paltrow’s Goop and sparking chatter about a Markle-vs.-Paltrow face-off.
When asked during a fan session on her Instagram stories, “Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media say you two have,?” Paltrow replied, “I genuinely do not understand this at all whatsoever. Do you understand this?” Paltrow then turns the camera to Markle, who eats a piece of pie and shrugs her shoulders.
Paltrow carved out her corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Pepper Potts, debuting opposite Robert Downey Jr. in “Iron Man” (2008) and sticking around for a run that spanned “Iron Man 2” (2010), “The Avengers” (2012), “Iron Man 3” (2013), “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). While Paltrow has since leaned into her Goop empire and famously blanked on a few of her Marvel credits, her legacy as Stark Industries’ steady hand — and occasional superhero in her own right — remains baked into the DNA of the MCU.
When asked during the Instagram stories session, “Are you coming back to the MCU, be honest?,” Paltrow replied, “The truth is, I don’t totally know. I think I might, but I’m not sure. Nothing is confirmed. That is the truth. That’s the inside scoop.”
Paltrow was also asked in Spanish whether she talked every day to Robert Downey Jr., who is returning to the MCU in 2026 as Doctor Doom. Paltrow replied, also in Spanish, that while they didn’t speak every day, they spoke a lot and that she would most probably be calling him on April 4, which is his 60th birthday.
