Hearst Television has promoted TV station exec Kyle Grimes to executive vice president.
Since 2023, Grimes has served as both president and general manager of WCVB-TV, Hearst Television’s flagship Boston station, and as a Hearst Television regional vice president overseeing all the company’s New England stations.
In his new role, Grimes will continue to report to Michael J. Hayes, Hearst Television’s president. He will move from Boston to the company’s New York headquarters, expanding his oversight across a broader portfolio of stations.
Hearst says it will announce Grimes’ successor as WCVB president and general manager in the coming days.
In his most recent role, Grimes oversaw WCVB, Boston’s ABC affiliate, as well as WMTW-TV and WPXT-TV, the ABC and CW affiliates serving Portland-Auburn, Maine; WMUR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, New Hampshire; and WPTZ-TV and WNNE-TV, the NBC and CW affiliates serving the Plattsburgh, New York, and Burlington, Vermont television market. Grimes will retain oversight of these stations, as will an additional portion of Hearst stations.
Prior to moving to WCVB in 2020, Grimes was president and general manager at Hearst’s WGAL-TV. He began his career at Hearst’s California television properties, first at KSBW-TV and later KCRA-TV/KQCA-TV.
“Kyle has done exceptional work balancing the leadership of WCVB while simultaneously overseeing the strong brands within our New England footprint,” Hearst Television president Michael J. Hayes said. “He’s an executive who has spent his entire career with Hearst Television and brings with him a breadth of knowledge and experience over his career from a collection of our markets, which will serve him well in his next role.”
