Although Quentin Tarantino is in “no hurry” to make his tenth and final film, you can get his older films on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc — namely “Inglourious Basterds,” which is the No. 1 war and military movie release on the Amazon Hot New Releases chart.
Available for pre-order for $17.89 on Amazon, “Inglourious Basterds” drops on 4K Ultra HD from Arrow Video with new artwork by creative content company Dare Creative. It comes out on Tuesday, April 1. You can pre-order it now and Amazon will send you a notification once the release is ready to ship.
The new release features a two-disc set with a 4K Ultra HD transfer of the film with lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio quality on disc one and a wide range of bonus features on disc two.
Bonus features include new interviews with film editor Fred Raskin, special make-up effects supervisor Greg Nicotero and actor Omar Doom, as well as a visual essay from film critic Walter Chaw and other materials. It also has older bonus features from previous releases included too, such as a making-of documentary of Nation’s Pride, a roundtable interview with Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt and Elvis Mitchell and much more. “Inglourious Basterds” takes place in Nazi-occupied France during World War II and follows a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers led by Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) on the hunt for Nazis behind enemy lines. It also follows a movie theater owner named Shosanna (Mélanie Laurent) looking to get revenge for the death of her family by Nazi soldiers, while the cunning and charming S.S. Officer, Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz), looks to play both sides for his own personal gain.
Additionally, the film stars Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger, August Diehl, Julie Dreyfus, Sylvester Groth, Jacky Ido, Denis Ménochet, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Martin Wuttke and others.
When it was released, “Inglourious Basterds” was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including best picture, best director, best original screenplay, best cinematography, best editing and others. However, the film won one Oscar for best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz.
Over the years, the film has grown in popularity, while it’s considered Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece.
