Icelandair to launch new Reykjavik-Istanbul route in 2025

Icelandair has announced plans to start new direct flights from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Istanbul, Turkey, beginning in September 2025.

Flights to Istanbul Airport (IST) will be operated four times a week from September 5, 2025, with a flight time of around five hours and 30 minutes, according to a press release published on November 14, 2024.

“I look forward to adding the great destination of Istanbul to our extensive route network and to further expand the partnership with Turkish Airlines,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair. “In recent years, we have seen increased interest in travel between Asia and Iceland and with these new connections, we are further strengthening our sales and distribution network.”

Icelandair and Turkish Airlines are also set to expand their codeshare partnership, as first announced in summer of 2023.

Icelandair will adjust its schedule to Istanbul to match Turkish Airlines flights traveling to and from Asia and the Middle East. The new connection will “reduce the total travel time from the east to Iceland”, according to the press release.

Icelandair operates in four key markets: to Iceland, from Iceland, via Iceland, and within Iceland. The carrier offers services in Europe, North America, over the North Atlantic and in the West Nordic region.
