IndiGo, Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a global airline partnership. The collaboration aims to enhance travel connectivity between India, North America, the UK, and Europe.
The new alliance brings together the strengths of each carrier. IndiGo, India’s largest airline, will provide an extensive domestic network. Delta and Virgin Atlantic will contribute strong transatlantic coverage, while Air France-KLM will add broad connectivity across Europe and North America. Together, the group aims to create a high-quality, seamless travel experience across key global markets.
The announcement, made on June 1, 2025, comes at a pivotal moment for IndiGo. The Indian low-cost carrier is preparing to launch long-haul international services this summer. It will begin operations with six damp-leased Boeing 787 aircraft and plans to expand further with a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900s. The move aligns with IndiGo’s ambition to become a global airline by 2030.
Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines plans to resume direct service to India. A new nonstop route from Atlanta to Delhi is expected to launch, pending regulatory approval. In addition, KLM will begin flights between Amsterdam and Hyderabad in September 2025, offering more connection options for travelers to and from India.
The partnership will also make it easier for travelers to book connecting flights. Once commercial agreements are finalized and approved, IndiGo customers will be able to access partner flights under IndiGo’s own 6E code. This will simplify travel across dozens of cities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and India.
Beyond flight connections, the MoU outlines broader cooperation across several areas. These include joint efforts in codeshare agreements, loyalty program integration, cargo services, sales strategies, and technology. The airlines also plan to explore collaboration in maintenance, sustainability, and training.
