James Marsden has signed on for a major role in Season 2 of “Your Friends and Neighbors” at Apple TV+, Variety has learned.
The drama series officially debuted on April 11, but Apple announced it had renewed the show in November 2024. Season 2 is now in production, with Marsden set for a series regular role. Season 1 of the show stars lead Jon Hamm as well as Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt, and Donovan Colan.
Marsden is everybody’s favorite. Favorite what, you may ask? The answer is “Yes.” He currently stars in the hit Hulu drama series “Paradise” opposite Sterling K. Brown, with that show also in production on its second season. Marsden also starred in the critically acclaimed Freevee series “Jury Duty,” for which he got an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a comedy series. His other TV credits include “Westworld,” “Dead to Me,” and “30 Rock.” In film, he is known for his work in the “X-Men” franchise as Cyclops — a role he will reprise in “Avengers: Doomsday” — as well as the “Sonic the Hedgehog” films and “Enchanted” among several others.
He is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
The official logline for Season 1 of “Your Friends and Neighbors” states, “After being fired in disgrace, Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Hamm), a hedge fund manager still grappling with his recent divorce, resorts to stealing from the homes of his neighbors in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village, only to discover that the secrets and affairs hidden behind those wealthy facades might be more dangerous than he ever imagined.”
Jonathan Tropper created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner via Tropper Ink. Hamm is an executive producer in addition to starring. Connie Tavel and Craig Gillespie are also executive producers, with Jamie Rosengard, Lori Keith Douglas and Stephanie Laing set to executive produce Season 2. Laing will also direct. Apple Studios, where Tropper is under an overall deal, produces.
