Washington, D.C. – SpaceNews is pleased to announce the expanded role of longtime commercial space reporter Jason Rainbow, who will now serve as Senior Staff Writer and Business Intelligence Manager. In this hybrid role, Jason will continue to lead our commercial space coverage while helping drive the development of our growing intelligence and data offerings.
Jason’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for SpaceNews, as the company deepens its commitment to serving space industry professionals with not just breaking news, but also premium, data-driven content. From white papers and deep-dive analyses to market forecasts and investor resources, SpaceNews is evolving to meet growing demand for trusted, actionable insights across the space economy.
“Jason’s reporting has always delivered clarity, depth, and authority,” said Mike Gruss, Chief Content and Strategy Officer at SpaceNews. “Now, he’ll bring that same rigor and analysis to our business intelligence efforts, helping shape the next generation of products for readers who depend on us to make informed decisions every day.”
Rainbow, formerly Editor at SatelliteFinance and other industry publications before joining SpaceNews, brings a wealth of editorial and analytical experience. Since joining the newsroom, he has anchored coverage of the commercial space sector, produced in-depth features, and hosted the popular Commercial Space Transformers video series. As Business Intelligence Manager, he’ll now also lead the creation of regular market reports and exclusive member briefings.
“As the industry becomes more complex, our readers need more than just headlines. They need analysis, context, and reliable data,” said Paige McCullough, President of SpaceNews. “Jason is uniquely equipped to lead this next chapter.”
