“The ‘Burbs,” Peacock’s upcoming mystery comedy series starring Keke Palmer, has added six recurring guest stars to its cast.
Haley Joel Osment (“Blink Twice,” “The Sixth Sense”), RJ Cyler (“The Harder They Fall,” “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”), Justin Kirk (“Angels in America,” “Weeds”), Kyrie McAlpin (“Cheaper by the Dozen,” “Will Trent”), Danielle Kennedy (“Man on the Inside,” “Narcos”) and Randy Oglesby (“For All Mankind,” “Star Trek”) join previously announced cast members Palmer, Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch and Kapil Talwalkar.
“The ‘Burbs” is adapted from the 1989 film of the same name. Per the official logline, the series is set in the present day and “follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”
The series is written by Celeste Hughey and Rachel Shukert, who serve as executive producers alongside Palmer; Nzingha Stewart, who will direct the first episode; Brian Grazer, who produced the 1989 film, plus Kristen Zolner and Natalie Berkus for Imagine Entertainment; and Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins and Aimee Carlson for Fuzzy Door. Fuzzy Door is under an overall deal at Universal Content Productions, which is the studio behind the series. Dana Olsen, who wrote the original film, serves as co-executive producer. The series will be shot at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, where the film was also shot.
