Killer Mike Sues Security Company for 2024 Grammys Arrest

Killer Mike has sued the security company responsible for his arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Rolling Stone reports. The citizen’s arrest by an S & S Labor Force security guard at the gala led Mike to be escorted from the venue in handcuffs. At the time, Killer Mike blamed “an over-zealous security guard” and his team’s confusion about where to go after collecting awards. A misdemeanor battery booking followed, but the rapper ultimately faced no criminal charges.

Now, the Atlanta rapper accuses S & S Labor Force of overstepping its security duties in order to “degrade, embarrass and physically hurt” him, causing “unnecessary public embarrassment, distress and professional harm,” Rolling Stone reports.

The lawsuit goes on to say the security guard caused him “to be falsely arrested and had him placed in jail during the remainder of the Grammy Awards Ceremony,” depriving him of the chance to “appear on primetime television in front of a huge international audience.” It further alleges that the guard “physically assaulted and battered him to prevent him from leaving by grabbing his arm,” using unnecessary force to restrain him.

Altogether, the lawsuit alleges false arrest and imprisonment, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. S & S called the lawsuit “unfounded” in an email to Rolling Stone. At the time, in signing the citizen’s arrest warrant, the guard, who is a woman, alleged that Killer Mike retaliated by pushing her.

Killer Mike won three awards at the 2024 Grammys: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album.
