Korean medical thriller “Hyper Knife” has emerged as Disney+‘s most-viewed Korean premiere globally in 2025, the streamer revealed Tuesday.
The series, which debuted with two episodes on March 19, has reached this milestone less than two weeks after its launch, with the ranking based on seven days of streaming data. The Park Eunbin and Sul Kyunggu starrer has dominated viewership in the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide.
“Hyper Knife” centers on Jeong Seok (Park), a brilliant neurosurgeon whose exceptional surgical skills are matched only by her obsession with perfecting them. After uncovering a shocking revelation, Seok finds herself betrayed by her mentor and stripped of her medical license. Refusing to abandon her calling, she begins performing underground surgeries for society’s outcasts until her former mentor comes seeking her expertise.
The series presents Seok with a moral dilemma: use her talents to complete a seemingly impossible operation or exact revenge on the man who destroyed her career. The narrative pits Park against Sul Kyunggu, who portrays her former mentor Choi Deokhe.
Park previously gained international acclaim for her performances in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “The King’s Affection,” while Sul has established himself through projects including “Memoir of a Murderer” and “Oasis.”
The creative team includes writer Kim Sunhee (“Quiz From God: Reboot”) and director Kim Junghyun, whose previous work includes “After the Rain” and “My Fellow Citizens!”
“Hyper Knife” kicks off Disney+’s 2025 Korean content slate, which will include several high-profile releases throughout the year. Upcoming titles include “Nine Puzzles,” a dark crime mystery starring Kim Dami and Son Sukku; treasure-hunting adventure “Low Life” with Ryu Seungryong; and international conspiracy thriller “Tempest” featuring an ensemble cast of Jun Gianna, Gang Dongwon, John Cho, and Michael Gaston.
New episodes of “Hyper Knife” stream every Wednesday through April 9 exclusively on Disney+.
