Kuwait Airways has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900neo aircraft at the European planemaker’s final assembly plant in Toulouse, France. The aircraft, named “Boubyan” by the carrier and registered 9K-APJ, was handed over in a ceremony held at the plant on December 9, 2024, and is the first of seven of the type that the Kuwaiti carrier has on order.
Speaking after the acceptance ceremony and upon the aircraft’s arrival at Kuwait International Airport (KWI) following its delivery flight from France, Kuwait Airways Chairman, Captain Abdulmohsen Salem Al-Fagaan said, “Kuwait Airways is pleased to receive its first Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, the first of seven aircraft of the same type to be received successively over the coming years, according to the company’s aircraft delivery plan.”
“The arrival of the Airbus A330-900neo supports the national carrier of the State of Kuwait in fulfilling key goals within its wider plan to expand its network of routes around the world. The new aircraft is also an addition to the Blue Bird’s fleet, which will serve the company’s operational processes,” he added
“The company is constantly following up on its customer’s requirements to provide the latest and best services. Furthermore, Kuwait Airways remains dedicated to ensuring the utmost comfort and safety for its passengers on every journey. The arrival of the A330-900neo is a continuation of an important stage in developing the distinguished services that the company provides to its passengers on board, in addition to various air transport services,” Al-Fagaan concluded.

Al-Fagaan further stated that the Kuwait Airways Board of Directors is constantly following up on the aircraft fleet plan, according to the operational requirements and in line with the needs of the air transport sector. He emphasized that the company is striving to develop and enhance its entire system by providing innovative and customer-centric offerings that align with the evolving needs of its valued passengers and meet their requirements for a safer and more comfortable travel experience.
Al-Fagaan added that Kuwait Airways’ diverse fleet consists of 32 aircraft which are all relatively new, with an average fleet age of nine years. This includes 17 Airbus A320s, four A330-800neos, and 10 Boeing 777-300ERs in its passenger fleet, plus the first A330-900neo. As the newest member of the fleet, 9K-APJ will be used across the carrier’s route network complementing its other widebody jets.
