An LATAM Airlines Airbus A319-112 veered off the runway while landing at Chapecó Airport (XAP) in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
The incident took place on March 31, 2025, at 19:36 local time, and involved an Airbus A319-112 with the registration PR-MYM.
The aircraft was conducting flight LA3277, which departed from São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU) at 17:40 local time and was heading to Chapecó Airport.
As it neared its destination, the aircraft was forced to abort its first landing attempt due to poor visibility. On the second try, it landed on Runway 29 but did not stop in time and went off the runway.
Initial local media reports suggested that the aircraft remained undamaged, and that the incident was a minor overrun, staying within the airport’s boundaries, rather than a serious runway excursion.
Data from Aviation Safety Network (ASN) confirmed that there were no injuries among the 112 passengers and five crew members on board the aircraft.
Video footage captured by one of the passengers and shared by Brazilian media outlet AEROIN shows the passengers celebrating after the aircraft came to a stop on the grass after veering off the runway in Chapecó.

On April 1, 2025, LATAM Airlines released an official statement on X confirming that the airline “safely disembarked all 107 passengers and five crew members from flight LA3276 to Chapecó, which exceeded the runway limit.”
In a statement posted to X on April 1, 2025, LATAM noted that the aircraft conducted another flight on the same day. The airline also said the incident led to the cancellation of some flights at Chapecó Airport.
The airline then added an update, stating: “We would like to inform you that we have completed the removal of the aircraft in Chapecó.”
