Doyle Auctioneers and Appraisers is auctioning off The Mary Tyler Moore collection, featuring items and memorabilia from “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
With select items on display at Doyle Beverly Hills from May 16-20 and Doyle New York beginning May 30 before a live auction on Wednesday, June 4, the collection will showcase nearly 300 pieces of artwork, memorabilia and decorative objects from Moore’s Greenwich, Conn. home.
The offerings range from Al Hirschfeld’s drawings of Moore’s roles in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” an unused ticket for the 1977 “Mary Tyler Moore” finale “The Last Show,” a rare Polaroid by Annie Leibovitz of Moore and Van Dyke, the iconic wall-mounted “M” from Moore’s on-screen apartment and portraits done by Peter Max and Everett Raymond Kinstler.
Throughout her historic career, Moore won seven Primetime Emmy awards, three Golden Globes, a Tony award and was Oscar nominated for her work in “Ordinary People.” In “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” Moore played Mary Richards, a single working woman who helped popularized the idea of women’s independence. The show also tackled divorce, gay rights, premarital sex and infertility.
