The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking input on the future of electric aviation in the state.

Information collected from the Minnesota Electric Aviation Network (MEAN) Study will help government officials identify the airports in the state that are suitable to support electric aircraft operations, according to officials.

“The results of the MEAN Study will highlight opportunities that exist for electric aviation and guide future infrastructure development in Minnesota,” officials explained.

Minnesota is home to 133 public-use airports, including 124 general aviation airports.

Officials hope to get responses from pilots who use the airports, airport managers, airport sponsors, businesses located at Minnesota airports, and manufacturers of electric aircraft, batteries, powertrains, or charging solutions.

MnDOT Aeronautics officials are also hosting a number of in-person meetings to gather input. You can see the list of meeting locations and times here.
