Electronic Arts (EA) revealed it will be releasing its next “Battlefield” game by March 2026 when it reported its latest quarterly earnings results Tuesday.
Details on the new installment in the “Battlefield” franchise are set to be revealed this summer, per EA CEO Andrew Wilson, who calls the title a “pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment.”
In addition to “Battlefield,” EA’s other big release within the next year will be “skate.”
This announcement follows last weeks news that EA that canceled its upcoming “Titanfall” franchise video game and laid off more than 300 of its employees.
During the Jan. 1-March 31 period, which marked the final quarter of EA’s fiscal year 2025, the video game publisher beat both analysts’ expectations and its own projections in earnings, revenue and net bookings, despite headwinds for live-services game “Apex Legends.” Strong performers for the quarter were new co-op “Split Fiction” (which has sold more than 4 million copies to date) as well as franchises “EA Sports FC” and “The Sims,” the latter of which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Wall Street forecast earnings per share (EPS) of 91 cents on $1.55 billion in revenue, according to analyst consensus GAAP data provided by LSEG. EA reported GAAP diluted EPS of 98 cents, or net income of $254 million, on $1.9 billion in revenue and net bookings of $1.8 billion. Non-GAAP diluted EPS stood at $1.58.
The company says it reached $7.36 billion in net bookings for its full fiscal year, which runs April 1-March 31, and non-GAAP EPS of $7.08.
Back in February, EA had projected revenue for the January-March quarter would be between $1.68 billion and $1.83 billion. Net bookings were expected to be between $1.44 billion and $1.59 billion. Diluted EPS was estimated to be between 65 cents and $1, or net income between $171 million and $263 million. Full fiscal-year net bookings were estimated between $7 billion to $7.2 billion.
“The incredible success of ‘College Football’ and the enduring strength of ‘FC’ drove another record year for EA Sports, while ‘The Sims’ capped FY25 with a historic Q4,” Wilson said in a statement accompanying the financial results. “As we look to the future, we’re confident in our ability to execute across a deep pipeline — beginning this summer with the highly anticipated reveal of ‘Battlefield,’ a pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment.”
“Q4 marked a strong finish to FY25, with broad-based momentum across the portfolio positioning the business for accelerated growth,” CFO Stuart Canfield added. “As we enter FY26, we remain focused on disciplined execution as we build toward a slate of groundbreaking upcoming releases.”
