Adam Pearson, Ambika Mod, David Jonsson and Harris Dickinson are some of the “Breakout and “Spotlight” honorees at the Newport Beach Film Festival‘s U.K. and Ireland Honors event.
Presented in partnership with Variety, who will honor their 10 Brits to Watch, the event is set for Feb. 13 in London at Raffles London at The OWO and will be a celebration of film and television artists.
This year’s Breakout awards for early career actors will go to Pearson for “A Different Man,” Marisa Abela for “Back to Black,” Jonsson for “Alien: Romulus,” Joe Locke for “Heartstopper” and “Agatha All Along” and Mia Threapleton for “The Buccaneers.”
A newly-added Spotlight recognition honoring actors at crucial career turning points will be awarded to Mod for “One Day,” Dickinson for “Babygirl,” Will Sharpe for “A Real Pain,” Joe Alwyn for “The Brutalist” and Jessica Gunning for “Baby Reindeer.”
“Newport Beach Film Festival remains committed to championing talent at all stages of their careers, from a wide range of backgrounds, who have made a significant impact on the entertainment industry,” Gary Sherwin, president and CEO of Visit Newport Beach, said in a statement. “This year’s honourees have given some truly outstanding performances, in some of the most lauded, talked-about films and series of the year. We are thrilled to be making our return to London for a celebration of British and Irish talent that will be bigger and brighter than ever.”
The remaining honorees for other categories have yet to be announced. Previous award recipients at the festival’s UK event include Nicola Coughlan, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee Lou Wood, Gemma Chan, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Paul Mescal.
The Newport Beach Film Festival returns for its regular program October 16-23.
