Nickie Sault Launches Class 5, Sets Film ‘Rare Singles’ With Ben Myers

“The Outlaws” producer Nickie Sault has launched a new film and TV production company titled Class 5.

Class 5, which will be based in Sheffield, in the north of the U.K., has already lined up its first major project with author Ben Myers in association with Warner Music Entertainment. The feature, an adaptation of his novel “Rare Singles,” tells the story of a middle aged music fan in Scarborough who makes contact with her soul-singing hero Bucky Bronco and unexpectedly invites him to visit.

“Over in Chicago, Bucky Bronco is down on his luck – and has been since the loss of his beloved wife Maybelle. The best he can hope for is to make ends meet, and try and stay high,” reads the logline. “But then an unexpected invitation arrives, from someone he’s never met, to come to somewhere he’s never heard of. With nothing to lose – and in need of the cash – Bucky boards a plane. And so Bucky finds himself in rainy Scarborough, where everyone seems to know who is preparing to play for an audience for the first time in nearly half a century.”

Sault has worked in film and TV since starting in the industry as a runner 25 years ago. She has since gone on to work on acclaimed dramas such as “The Gallows Pole,” “The Virtues” and “World on Fire.”

“I believe that film and television has the power to drive societal change, and I take that responsibility seriously,” sais Sault. “When people spend their hard-earned money to see a film or commit hours of their life to watching something on television, we, as creators, need to earn that privilege by making sure that what we put out into the world is meaningful. Class 5 strives for the best experience both on and off screen. At Class 5, every collaborator regardless of rank or role, is welcomed into a safe environment where their voice is encouraged and valued. I am thrilled to be continuing my collaboration with the incredible Ben Myers, and honoured that I get to work alongside Warner Music Entertainment in co-producing Ben’s very first feature film adaptation, ‘Rare Singles.’”
