Overnight Iranian missile strikes kill 10 people in Israel

Overnight Iranian missile strikes have killed 10 people in Israel as the conflict between the two Middle Eastern countries deepens.

On June 15, 2025, reports began to surface that an Iranian attack on Bat Yam, a city south of Tel Aviv, resulted in several people being killed and over 150 being injured.

The President of the State of Israel, Issac Herzog, described the overnight killings as a “very sad and difficult morning”.

“Our brothers and sisters were killed and wounded last night in criminal Iranian attacks targeting civilians in Bat Yam, Tamra, and other towns,” added President Herzog.

Although the number of Iranians killed in the days long conflict is not entirely clear, authorities in the country did confirm that 78 people were killed on the first day of Israel’s attacks, according to the Guardian.

This morning Israel Defense Forces (IDF) warned Iranian citizens to immediately leave areas near military weapons production facilities.

“Your presence near this infrastructure puts your lives at risk,” the IDF wrote in a message aimed at Iranians.

The IDF also said overnight that it had “completed an extensive series of strikes on targets in Tehran related to the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project”.

“The targets included the Iranian Ministry of Defense headquarters, the headquarters of the SPND nuclear project, and additional targets, which advanced the Iranian regime’s efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon and where the Iranian regime hid its nuclear archive,” the IDF said.

The BBC reported that an official confirmed that the headquarters of Iran’s Ministry of Defense, Isfahan, was hit but there were so far no reports of any casualties.

Iran and the US were due to hold talks in Muscat, Oman, on June 15, 2025, to discuss details around the Iranian nuclear program.

Commenting on the conflict President Donald Trump wrote on social media: “If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before. However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel and end this bloody conflict!!!”

The UK, France and Germany have offered to hold nuclear talks with Iran to try and de-escalate tensions in the region.

The British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also confirmed that the UK was positioning fighter jets in the Middle East to provide “contingency support”.

“We do have long standing concerns about the nuclear programme that Iran has. We do recognise Israel’s right to self-defence. But I’m absolutely clear that this needs to de-escalate,” said Prime Minister Starmer.

The latest conflict in the Middle East began when Israel conducted extensive airstrikes across Iran, targeting over 100 locations, including military leaders, scientists and nuclear facilities.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the initial wave of strikes early on June 13, 2025, as “successful” and emphasized continued operations targeting Iranian nuclear capabilities and military leadership.
