Serco Inc., which operates 28 air traffic control towers in the United States, has partnered with Middle Georgia State University to offer training to future air traffic controllers.
The Air Traffic Control Training (ATC) degree/certificate programs are offered exclusively at Middle Georgia State University’s Eastman Campus, according to company officials.
Graduates of the program who successfully complete their training and pass Serco’s final review will have direct recruitment opportunities with the company.
Serco supports air traffic control towers in seven western states, including Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
ATC students will be trained by Middle Georgia State University instructors using FAA regulations and Serco standard operating procedures to cover all aspects of air traffic control, from basic principles to advanced procedures in on-the-job training, according to company officials.
Internationally, Serco is one of the largest contracted providers of air traffic control services, handling more than 7 million aircraft movements a year. Serco employs more than 700 air traffic control specialists at more than 80 airports in the U.S., U.K. and Middle East.
