Perfume Genius Announces Tour and New Album, Shares Video for New Song “It’s a Mirror”: Watch

Perfume Genius has announced a new album. The Blake Mills–produced Glory is Mike Hadreas’ follow-up to 2022’s Ugly Season and releases March 28 on Matador. The record features lead single “It’s a Mirror,” which is out today with a video directed by frequent collaborator Cody Critchloe. Watch it below.

“I wake up overwhelmed even when nothing is going on. I spend the rest of the day trying to regulate, which I prefer to do at home alone with my thoughts. But why? They are mostly bad. They also haven’t really changed for decades,” Hadreas said in a press statement. “I wrote ‘It’s a Mirror’ while stuck in one of these isolating loops, seeing that something different and maybe even beautiful is out there but not quite knowing how to venture out. I have a lot more practice keeping the door closed.”

Following the release of Glory, Perfume Genius will embark on an extensive North American tour, kicking off on May 12, in Healdsburg, California, and wrapping up June 27 at Portland, Oregon’s Revolution Hall. Last year, Hadreas shared covers of Dinah Washington’s “What a Difference a Day Makes” and Bronski Beat’s “Smalltown Boy.” He also reissued his 2014 record Too Bright for its 10th anniversary.
