“The Spy That Could Fly” is the latest children’s book from author and veteran pilot Patricia Osborn, taking young readers on a rescue mission in the wilderness.
“This captivating picture book combines adventure with real-life insights, shedding light on the vital work of helicopter rescue crews,” according to the publisher.
In the book, a young girl ventures into the forest with her dog, only to become lost. As her family grows anxious, a Lakota helicopter crew mobilizes to find her.
Drawing on her own experience as a veteran and pilot, Osborn introduces children to the role of search and rescue teams “in a way that’s accessible and thrilling for young readers, while honoring the bravery of Army National Guard rescue crews,” officials added.
The Spy That Could Fly is Osborn’s third book, following The Fire Truck That Could Fly and The Ambulance That Could Fly. Illustrations are by Eric Castleman.
