Charlie Cale is back on the case in the trailer for Season 2 of “Poker Face,” premiering on May 8 on Peacock.
Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne’s mystery-of-the-week series will launch with three episodes at once and then release one episode per week on Thursdays.
“Poker Face” stars Lyonne as a de facto detective who has an extraordinary ability to tell when someone’s lying. She drives her Plymouth Barracuda across the country and encounters strange people and strange crimes she can’t help but solve. This season will feature an impressive roster of celebrity guest stars.
Cynthia Erivo plays identical sextuplets and John Mulaney plays an FBI agent. Plus, Adrienne C. Moore, Alia Shawkat, Awkwafina, Ben Marshall, B.J. Novak, Carol Kane, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Corey Hawkins, David Krumholtz, Davionte “GaTa” Ganter, Ego Nwodim, Gaby Hoffmann, Geraldine Viswanathan and Giancarlo Esposito will appear on the series.
The list goes on: Haley Joel Osment, Jason Ritter, John Cho, Justin Theroux, Kathrine Narducci, Katie Holmes, Kevin Corrigan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Tom, Lili Taylor, Margo Martindale, Melanie Lynskey, Natasha Leggero, Patti Harrison, Rhea Perlman, Richard Kind, Sam Richardson, Sherry Cola, Simon Helberg, Simon Rex and Taylor Schilling also guest star.
“Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in Season 2 we’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability,” Johnson and Lyonne wrote in a joint statement teasing the season.
“Poker Face” received four Emmy nominations for its first season, and won one — as Judith Light took home the prize for best guest actress performance in a comedy series.
Tony Tost is the showrunner of “Poker Face,” executive producing alongside Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman. T-Street and MRC are the studios. T-Street and Animal Pictures are producers.
