The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) announced on January 20, 2025 that Qantas Airways has joined AAPA with immediate effect.
“We are very pleased and honoured to welcome Qantas Airways as a member of AAPA. Qantas, a leading Australian airline with a long heritage, would not only strengthen the Association’s voice in international aviation policy discussions, but also reinforce effective regional collaboration on key aviation tenets, namely safety, sustainability, and seamless air travel,” Subhas Menon, Director General of AAPA said in a statement.
“Qantas looks forward to working with members of AAPA as the industry embraces opportunities to meet the evolving needs of customers in a dynamic market, while at the same time confronting challenges such as climate change and supply chain disruptions. There are many areas airlines can share best practices and experiences to benefit the travelling public,” said Cam Wallace, Chief Executive Officer of International and Freight at Qantas.
According to its website, AAPA acts as a common voice on behalf of Asia Pacific air carriers and puts forward Asian perspectives when dealing with governments, aircraft manufacturers, airport authorities and other organisations on industry issues. The association closely monitors political and regulatory developments, liaises with authorities, assists in filings in response to consultations and arranges meetings with senior government officials and other relevant institutions involved in the development of aviation policies.
The AAPA permanent secretariat is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with international representation in Brussels and Washington, D.C.
