REGENT announced on May 14, 2025, that one of its customers, Florida-based UrbanLink Air Mobility, is increasing a pre-existing Seaglider order from 27 to 47 units.
In September 2024, UrbanLink Air Mobility placed an order for 27 “Viceroy” ground-in-wing vehicles, each capable of transporting up to 12 passengers flying just a few meters above water at speeds of up to 180 miles per hour.
UrbanLink Air Mobility plans to use those vehicles, including 20 additional ones from the follow-up order, on coastal routes in South Florida and Puerto Rico.
The business case for a ground-in-wing vehicle in these markets rests on its ability to deliver fast transportation services in a radius of up to 180 miles from bases in Miami and San Juan de Puerto Rico.
The new servicecould start as early as 2027 provided REGENT successfully completes the Seaglider’s development and obtains the required permits and certifications. UrbanLink plans to commercialize it as an alternative to congested overland transportation options.
Both companies see a potential market for up to 4.3 million passengers per year in the Greater Miami area.
In March 2025, REGENT conducted the first sea trial of a full-scale passenger-carrying Viceroy prototype in the waters of Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island.
