Royal Air Maroc adds Stansted as its third London gateway

Moroccan flag carrier and Oneworld alliance member Royal Air Maroc has announced the launch of a new direct service from London-Stansted Airport (STN) to Casablanca (CMN) for the summer of 2025. The addition of London-Stansted to its network brings the total number of airports in the greater London area served by the carrier to three, joining both London-Heathrow (LHR) and London-Gatwick (LGW) on its route network.

Starting on June 24, 2025, flights will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays using one of the carrier’s 28-strong fleet of Boeing 737-800s. The route has a stage length of 1,337 miles (2,139km) and a flight time of around 3 hours and 20 minutes. Only operating for the peak summer weeks for the UK school holidays, the brand-new route will run between June 24, 2025, and September 14, 2025.

Flights will depart Casablanca at 03:00 and arrive at Stansted at 06:20. The return flight will leave Stansted at 07:25, landing back in Casablanca at 10:45. The route saw over 100,000 passengers travel between the two cities in the twelve months to July 2024.

According to an airline statement, “The new service is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering them a convenient way to explore Morocco’s largest city while also providing connections onto Royal Air Maroc’s extensive network across Africa. Casablanca continues to charm visitors with its mix of old traditions and modern life. From the magnificent Hassan II Mosque (one of the largest in the world) to the romantic Corniche waterfront and maze-like medina, Casablanca showcases Morocco’s rich heritage.”

“Of all the airports in all the towns in all the world, Royal Air Maroc chose London Stansted for its new direct service to Casablanca, a decision we are truly delighted about,” said Ciaran Brannigan, London Stansted’s Commercial Director, drawing inspiration from the eponymously titled classic 1942 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. “This service will provide our passengers with more choice and convenience when traveling to North Africa, whether for business, leisure, or connecting onto the airline’s broader route network.”

“Casablanca is an iconic destination, and we are confident this new route will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Royal Air Maroc and London Stansted,” commented Zoubida Smahi, Royal Air Maroc’s UK General Manager. “We are thrilled to offer our passengers a direct link between London Stansted and Casablanca, one of the most vibrant and culturally rich cities in Morocco.”

“This new service reflects our commitment to providing convenient and accessible travel options for both business and leisure travelers, while also connecting them to our extensive network across Africa. We look forward to welcoming passengers aboard and to further strengthening our presence in the UK and beyond,” she added.

Royal Air Maroc will now serve all three of the London airports from its Casablanca hub with 19 weekly flights. Heathrow and Gatwick services are deliberately timed to connect to the carrier’s Western and Central African network via Casablanca, while the Stansted flights are expected to handle more point-to-point customers. Heathrow sees up to nine weekly flights operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8s, with Gatwick seeing single daily Boeing 737 MAX 8 service.

For the summer of 2025 and with Royal Air Maroc’s new service, Stansted will now have flights to eight Moroccan destinations – Agadir, Casablanca, Essaouira, Fez, Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tangier, all served exclusively by Ryanair except for Casablanca. London-Stansted serves more European destinations than any other UK airport, and this new service further strengthens its route network, which now covers almost 200 destinations across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
